While Pappy
and Aunt Jen were visiting Colin turned 6 months old. This month was very exciting to watch Colin
explore himself and his surroundings.
The best part about this month was that Daddy got to be home for the
whole time! The first thing Daddy did
with Colin when he returned from deployment was introduce him to his feet and
how to put them in his mouth. He has
been obsessed with them ever since.
One foot…
Two feet…
Feet without socks:
Colin’s
favorite place to be continues to be lying on the changing table.
When he’s
not eating his feet, he's smiling, giggling, or practicing his new acquired razzing
skills while getting his diaper changed.
We hang out on the changing table long after the changing part is
finished!
Here is
Colin working on his razzing:
Sleep
continues to be a struggle. Although,
Colin did sleep from 7pm-7am once!!! He usually looks like this in his crib
(after a 20 minute nap from which he woke up still tired but unable to fall
back to sleep – poor little guy!):
Fortunately with some sleep props, he is looking more like
this when he wakes up:
No, that is not a torture device; it is a Safe T Wrap which
Colin actually seems to enjoy. It keeps
him nice and cozy and prevents him from hitting his head on the crib railings
when he’s fighting the sleep. He’s also
wearing “The Magic Sleep Suit” which although not magical it does seem to calm
our little yellow marshmallow down enough to enjoy a bed time story and does
seem to help him sleep for longer stretches. (Mommy doesn't care what the critics ~Aunt Jen~ say about it!)
Even with these contraptions, Colin still prefers to sleep in
his car seat while strolling through the neighborhood. I’m not sure what could look more peaceful
then this:
At Colin’s 6 month doctor’s appointment he weighed in at 16
pounds 13 ounces (25th percentile) and 26 inches (40th percentile). His head circumference was in the 50th
percentile. The doctor said he was doing
great! He received several vaccinations which were followed by a fever and a
few rough nights. Any sleep progress we had
made took a step backwards but fortunately quickly got back on track.
Now, on to
Colin’s six month photos!
He has been doing
a great job sitting up…
…but is
often distracted by his…feet!
Which then cause him to fall over….
…and he
wonders, “Now what do I do?”
If it’s not
his feet distracting him, it is something else out in front of him.
He purposely leans forward so
he can get his mouth on whatever it is. This time it was the frills on the
blanket.
From this position, he then lays on his belly
and swings his legs to the back…ready for some tummy
time.
Usually he
is on the floor and not about to fall off the couch! Speaking of which, we’ve had a few close
calls. As Colin gets more and more
mobile the more we have to be careful.
One last
thing to add about this month…Colin has started to take a real interest in
Lilly. He loves to watch her jump around
and giggles when she licks him.
We were able
to capture one of their first playful interactions with each other:
